A States Showing for the Second Year in a Row!

Another round at States and this time the award for Innovation in Control! Being acknowledged at the State level is a huge accomplishment for these students with the competing teams being the elite of Michigan! This award celebrates the unique machine functions provided by electrical, mechanical, or software components. Specifically, the judges recognized a trim feature designed to help navigate small adjustments the drive team makes during play. They also mentioned custom buttons and pneumatics. This was a combined effort by our Build and Programming Teams to create the features, Drive Team to deliver results, and our team Spokesperson to articulate these efforts when talking to judges.
Comps 1 and 2 are in the books!

Competition 1 we joined Ferndale High School and many elite teams that created some steep competition. Early on we faced many challenges that left us in almost last place closing the first day of qualifications matches. But, we stayed diligent and made a huge recovery finishing with an overall rank of 10th. We became the captain of Alliance 7 and chose two teams to partner with that proved to be great choices. In our first match we defeated Alliance 2 with an upset that left the crowd roaring! Our team made it almost all the way through the semi-finals being eliminated in the fifth and final round with a finish of THIRD PLACE!!

Comp 2 we traveled to St. Joseph where we continued to refine our game play and made many adjustments that landed us in a 7th place rank overall going into the semi-finals. We were chosen by another team and joined Alliance 5 with our first match being evenly paired against Alliance 4. We secured the win in a nail-biting finish that came down to the end game performance of Alliance 5. 6570 finished fourth in the semi-finals being eliminated in the fourth round.
Each student takes on an important role during competition that together allows for our success. Many of our younger members had the opportunity to take on bigger roles as our seniors and mentors worked on passing down information to continue building team strength. It is with the help of many coaches, mentors, parents, and volunteers that we are successful and have a great time doing it!
Team 6570 Wins the Gracious Professionalism Award
“Both on and off the field, this team has consistently pounced on the opportunity to demonstrate sportsmanship. Their “Scouting for Dummies" guide allows newer students to claw their way to success. This team can climb any mountain and makes it a point to assist other teams on the way.” said judges at First Robotics when awarding the Bobcats.
Bobcats Clean Up Consear Road
The Robotics Team joined forces to clean up Consear Road! They rolled up their sleeves, filled numerous bags with trash, and tidied up the pathway surrounding our school. Thanks to their dedication and hard work, we all get to enjoy a much cleaner road!
